Go to a holy place to be purified
The purpose of a pilgrimage is to become purified and to grow in devotion, not to enjoy a holiday.
A holy place is a place to receive, not to collect. Go with the aim of being changed a little, by what you hear, what you see and what you give up while you are there. If you are also seeing the sights, let that be second.
