Speak truthfully, pleasingly and helpfully
Words that are true, kind, useful and not agitating to others are the austerity of speech.
In the Gītā, Kṛṣṇa describes the austerity of speech as words that are truthful, pleasing and beneficial, that do not disturb others. Before you speak, ask three things: is it true, is it kind, is it of any use? If it is none of the three, let it pass.
