Enter gently
Do not walk in suddenly. A soft sound as you enter, such as the temple bell, announces you instead of intruding.
It is old courtesy to let a house know you are coming before you step in. In the temple that can be the bell by the door or a quiet word of the Lord’s name. The Nectar of Devotion, quoting the Varāha Purāṇa, lists entering without making some sound first among the offenses to avoid.
